Bristol Cove is a fictional, coastal town located in Washington State. It was founded 150 years ago by Captain Charles H. Pownall. The town is known for its legend of once being home to merpeople since the 1800s. According to a marine chart shown in The Wolf at the Door the town is located at N 47.3922° W 124.3026° .The real world coordinates location is inland, part of the Quinault Reservation adjacent to the Pacific in Washington. Whereas Bristol Cove is depicted resembling the nearby port-city of Port Angeles (influenced heavily by the filming locations on the opposite side of the Canadian boarder).

According to myths and legends, Bristol Cove was where mermaids have been known to gather for hundreds of years, notably for attacking passing ships and sailors. Stories made concerning mermaids in this mystical place strike terror in the heart of all sailors, even if it was just a brief mention of it. This caused these mythical creatures to be slaughtered by sailors.
